MISSION TRIP
This year (2007) we went to Monroe, LA, and worked with an organization called Group Workcamps.  Below is a personal account of the trip from Tricia, one of the participants.

"The week of Hope was very special to me because I learned a lot about God, others and myself. During devotions with our church group, I realized what Jesus sacrificed and just how much he loves us. He was willing to die to save all of us, even the people against him. We would read from Philippians every night and our camp was based on Philippians 2:5 that says "Let this mind be in you which was also in Jesus Christ". I experienced first hand about seeing a Jesus Attitude in others. The other teens in our camp worked incredibly hard in the scorching heat and got done as much as possible for the people in need. Another way I saw Jesus though my fellow campers was putting our religions aside to unite for one common cause. We were all there to do a job that got done because of us joining together. I got to know Pastor Parker, Chris and Amber very well. There was one time that there was this wasp in the showering area. Well, we all soon found out that Amber absolutely despises bees, wasps, and hornets. So Amber and I found this while we were exploring the campground and she saw it and didn’t appreciate it. So we went to get Chris and he willingly went in with the intention of killing it. And I just thought that it was really sweet the way he kind-of protected us girls from the scary wasp. But unfortunately, we didn’t find it and Amber freaked out even more. But these are 3 wonderful people who gave up a week of their summer to do a selfless act of kindness to total strangers. That’s overwhelming. While at camp, we learned about Jesus attitudes and how we could let others see God through us. And now I know that in order to dedicate all of myself to serving others, I must dedicate all of myself to serving God.
